Bryant Jennings TKO A Blow for Philly Heavyweights

Bryant “By By” Jennings suffered his third defeat this weekend. Oscar Rivas scored the 12th round TKO over Jennings, effectively ending his run as a legitamet challenger in the heavyweight division.

Philly boxing is booming right however the heavyweight division is sitting in a bit of a void. While Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, and to a lesser degree Anthony Joshua continue to dominate the division, Jennings was a bit of a hometown hero for Philly fans.

His fight last year against journeyman Joey Dawejko was an instant classic in the city. However with his defeat it seems likely that his days headlining cards is over.

On the same card, Shakur Stevenson dominated Jessie Cris Rosales. Rosales looked like the best compettition Stevenson has faced so far. It is a credit to Stevenson’s growth. It’s probably time Top Rank start considering him to head line cards and see title shots soon.

Nik enjoys bantamweight wars, good body work, and boxers who work on their craft. In his spare time he spends time with his family, or away from them in his work shop.
